I have read numerous articles with complaints about the Olympic opening. People, get over it. Do you really care that there was lip synching or that the fireworks were computer enhanced? One...lip synching beats bad accoustics. I would rather hear a clear vocal than a messed up audio...wouldn't you? I think Sarah Brightman can sing either way and a little girl on stage at the Olympics isn't worth running the risk of a little stagefright and ruining the whole show...so find something else to criticize the Opening Ceremony with.
Two...the fireworks were designed by one of China's most outstanding contemporary artists...have you ever heard of Artistic License? Duh!! They were spectacular AND the Chinese invented fireworks, so they can do whatever they please with them!
Everyone here is talking about how fun the Olympics actually are. The venues are amazing. Even going to canoeing and kayaking has been fun for my friends. They love seeing the man-made river with computer generated waves. I even heard a guy say that women's field hockey had been a blast. You know one of the hottest tickets (besides American Basketball...forget getting tickets to that!) is Ping Pong! The Chinese have an awesome Beach Volleyball team and one of my friends rode up an elevator with their star player.
I wasn't there, but I did see on television the medal awards for the girls gymnastic team of Chinese athletes. They were so cute and so proud, but they looked to be fresh out of kindergarten!
You can get tickets to a lot of events on Cosports.com and many of the tickets to lesser events are as cheap as 7 bucks a pop. The youth group from our church are going in mass to the mountain bike race tomorrow...all with American flags. They will be stationed near the last curve in hopes of making US television...cheering on our racers who are predicted to win gold.
Just so much fun!
Once again it is an overcast day, but the good news with that is the heat is not too bad.
